WE MADE THE BIG LEAP!
Here's what we did: (all in Eastern U.S. time)
Sunday afternoon 5:00 PM: left the Hart house in New Bern and arrived at hotel in Raleigh 10:00 PM
Monday morning 3:00 AM: left hotel for Raleigh Durham Airport
Monday morning 6:30 AM: flight to Dulles, D.C.
Monday 12:00 PM: Big flight over to Tokyo. Arrived 3 am Tuesday morning.
Tuesday 6:00 AM: Last flight up to Sapporo
Tuesday 10:00 AM: Arrived at Debbie Griffin's house (where we will be living this summer)
...so a total of almost 30+ hours travel time! After painful byes and the shedding of tears, lots of mental, physical, and emotional fatigue, we actually made it! Only through God's supervision, guidance, and care did we make it here! We keep looking at one another and saying, "I can't believe we are here... we made it!"
The whole Missionary family (all 9 Snows, the Carneys, Shannon Little, and Mirial Gainer) met us at Chitose Airport in Sapporo and helped load up our huge caravan of suitcases. They drove us out to Debbie Griffin's house across from Miharashidai Church. We were all so worn out we slept hard last night; that always helps to start getting our body clock set to Japan time. We had a very special visit from our dear friend, Mika, last night...she lives right across the main road from us and walked over to greet us and meet Ruby. It is so good to see her and our other friends here! They have gone out of their way to welcome us. Ruby has been a champ...she did really well for a little international traveler. Pray for her to be flexible and for her as she, too, grieves in her own way.
We've been through lots of doubts, questions, strange feelings, and obvious attacks from the dark side and we both see the strong Truth that God led us here and He will accomplish His will and plans. God is in control! We don't have to worry about our success/effectiveness, but just being obedient to Him.
